The Ondo state Head of service, Mr. Dare Aragbaye has charged the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) to block all leakages within the state service with the power of digital technology.
The Head of service gave this directive following the impressive presentation on the activities of SITA by the PS in his office.
He further directed the agency to develop more software that can lift the face & standard of the service better than its present position adding that, the effort to reposition the public service must be a joint effort
While attributing the success recorded by the agency to cordial relationship between the political head & the mgt staff, Aragbaye implored the agency to immediately embark on evaluation tour of all the products of Tech Hub and DVP with a view to seeing them competing with the outside world and by extension serve the public better.
As he put it, “if ICT is properly deployed & monitored, it can mop-up the ever increasing population of unemployed youth in the society”.
The HOS finally charged the mgt team to expedite action on the production of worker’s ID & residency cards as it remains the only potent remedy to the persistent problem of leakages on the payrolls for both serving & retired civil servants.
Cataloging the achievements of the agency, the Perm. Sec. of the agency, Mrs. Bunmi Omotola said that,SITA has done a lot to migrate the state service from analog to digital going through the scorecards.
She listed the establishment of Digital Village Project (DVP), development of websites for MDAs, digital training of entrepreneurs on emerging technology and recalibration of worker’s ID & residency cards, providing technical support during the verification of local govt staff and pensioners as classical examples.
While assuring the HOS of ability of SITA to carry out the mandate as directed, Mrs Omotola B.M sought for the support of the HOS in ensuring that SITA is adequately funded and quick passage of SITA amendment bill into law to enable it meets it’s revenue targets.
